London Fashion Week Part 2

Hello lovelies,


Scarlet has filled you in on our day out at LFW were we mingled with celebrities (well really they mingled with us!) and we gave our verdict on the latest offerings from Matthew and Viv!

It was a brilliant day and although I havent yet experienced Fashion Week in another city I have to agree with numerous bloggers, designers, models and fellow fashionistas when they say London sets the standard.

The Matthew Williamson and Vivienne Westwood collections despite both being British and well established designers couldnt have been more different. MW's pieces were wearable, feminine and accessible. You could imagine women of all ages and sizes wearing them.

Vivienne Westwood's collection was from her ready to wear range, in true keeping with her disctinctive and flamboyant style was madcap, flamboyant and standout. When the outfits are deconstructed and broken down into single items of clothing you could easily work them into your daily wardrobe!

Below are a few of my fave outfits!

Vivienne attracted some top celebs including Boris Becker, Dr Who,Tracy Emin, Nicola Girls Allowed Roberts and Boy George who came with his own PVC clad drag queen dominatrix (I was this close to bringing mine too...)

All in all a very fun day out - we even managed to squeeze in a trip to Spitalfields markets and a wander round Brick Lane. I would love to go back and spend longer there as there was soo much to do, see, buy and EAT - there was food from every corner of the globe!

Blues win!

Hi All, whether you are a Blues fan or not if your from Birmingham you have to be happy for Birmingham City FC winning their first trophy since 1963!

Blues were definitely the underdogs with the majority of pundits betting against them - however they were the strongest team throughout the 90 minute nail biter! To be fair to the Gunners they were plagued with injuries before and during the match, but regardless they still didnt play with as much enthusiasm as the Blues players.

I think this pictures sums up how the fans felt after Obafemi Martins scored the winning goal!

My brush with LFW

On Sunday I was lucky enough to go to the LFW AW11 shows of Matthew Williamson & Vivienne Westwood Red Label...

To me Vivienne Westwood's show was such a mixture of influences particularily in headwear, you could not pick one sort of "style"...it was little bit Robin Hood & his merry men, a little ode to Royalty, a smidgen of cowboy, and a heaped teaspoon of English Heritage....my faves are the crowns!!! The make-up was by MAC...

I nearly started to write down the items that I loved...but realised it was literally something from EVERY piccy - I'll shorten it to check, suits, braces, & high waisted skirts, oh my!

Her show was inspiring in setting standards of true indivuality...

Amongst the beautiful clothes & stunning models were many celebs and my pick for best dressed at Vivienne Westwood was Jaime Winstone. I loved the pattern on her dress - her fierce looks & the feminine pattern clashed & intertwined...I loved it!

My fave two outfits at Matthew Williamson consisted of beautiful colours & a mixture of pattern & texture...but most of all were wearable...its not too often when i see clothes on the runway that I honestly think will 100% suit smaller & more curvey frames...for me he hit the nail on the head! i love love love fur at the minute on a night out (better than looking like I'm freezing my ass off!!) and I have always loved coral with muted camel - note the almost irredescent blue heels - just makes that outfit individual...not the obvious choice either!

Unfortunatley the person who I thought looked A-mezzing @ Matthew Williamson I can't find a picture of : ( & I rudely don't know her name...but I will give her a mention - Lady sitting next to Olivia wearing black, orange, green & red maxi looked HOT & was absolutley stunning!!!

Better Belle than never...

I havent blogged in 2 weeks...aaagggghhh....And I may aswell say now that this post is unfortunatley not Birmingham related - but it has to be done...Im bad, but I'm perfectly good at it! ;)

Last weeks episode of my girl crush Belle de Jour's Secret Diary of a Call Girl-my fave bits...

Belle's been caught up with a new client, a police officer??? Also connected with Stephanie!!! Belle...thats spells trouble, take ur sequined ass out the door and trot ur killer heals home to Ben! The sequined dress given to her from her mystery man has a back cleavage, ha and tiedye washes from pink to blue - something I would never usually consider being fussy with sequins & practically DETESTING pink and blue together, this dress swung me faster than a trapeze!

I loved her deep blue tassled earrings (very easy to make from a vintage pair of 80's earrings - just add chain, easily available at Hobbycraft or the Rag Market in town-see how I worked that in, oh yeah!!!)...I am gonna work the earrings this season, my hair is going to be permanently up to show them off....watch this space!

She also worked the tassle trend with ANOTHER tassled necklace....girls, work the tassle.....cut up an old top, an old skirt -anything and attach it in layers to a skirt (leather & fabric layers is sooooooo easy),  attach it to the arms of a dress or top, under the arm, over the back of the shoulder....pin them onto a bag, som leggings....you can do anything with old clothes you would normally throw in the bin, and taselling something is not only a ridiculously huge trend this season but also really easy to do & remove....AND trust me when someone says, "I love your top, wheres it from?" - the best & most forefilling answer is..."I made it"

And you thought your Valentines Day was bad.....

Ok so getting dumped is pretty terrible ..especially on Valentines Day...but I'm not sure that this is the best way to get over it or to get yourself a new date?!

Janie a student at Birmingham Uni (actually a liverpudlian) spent most of Valentines day on the Bristol Road asking passing motorists to be her Valentine...no news on whether she was successful or if in fact she is still there...!

Ah Janie I can think of a million other ways to get over your ex and if it had to involve me wearing a sandwich board it would at least include some information about the ex and his mushroom (insert your own word here)....!

I'm a secret call girl whore!

Surely I ma no the only one obsessed with Secret Diary of a Call Girl...since season 1 people!!! Im no part time whore-tagalong...

Season 3 is when the fashion swung in full throttle & got me hooked - pun intended...as soon as Season 4 started I thought yes definatley...bloggin it!

So far Episodes 1 & 2 have a sorta theme...

Episode 1 - necklace galwhore...

Episode 2 - all about the earrings...I don't have any snap shots because looking for the ones above I got a virus!!! So Im not searching for that again!!!! oops...

NailRock'ssssssss!!!!!!

I love my new Nail Rocks!!! I have looked for soooo long for this product - I should have known to ask Frockstar earlier - she is the Nail Queen!!!! Look at all the gorgeous designs available.....

I have brought the gold xmas pack available at ASOS which include metallic gold & leopard for £10.25 (saving of around £2)...It was so easy to put on and I even used a normal hairdryer, where as the pack says a travel hairdryer is best! LADIES...summers coming & this is the best way to lose weight/tone up...TRUST ME!!!!!!

For Christmas I brought Elle-phant a great deal on lastminute.com for a 30 min back, neck & shoulder massage, a 30 min vibro massage & a 3-day pass to use the vibro plates (this is what I’ll call them as there not the poncy power plates – these are hardcore!). The Vibro-Suite is located in Canal Square, Browning Street, B16 8EH, basically not too far from Nuvo in Brindley Place. Once you pull into Browning Street there is a tight bend in the road – if you park there I would – less walking after your work out or massage!!! There is a yellow clad convenience store & the Vibro-Suite is clearly signed – its literally facing the canal – a lovely view from the gym....

We booked in for 6.30pm on Friday night last week & I have to say I would definitely recommend it!!! The back massage was lovely but very firm & for the first time in a long time I didn’t feel as if I had to “crick” my entire top half. Elle-phant on the other hand nearly dribbled all over the chair she enjoyed it THAT much!

The vibro massage consisted of a number of relaxed positions on a souped up Power plate (or should I say a real Power plate – those that some of you may know of are the lesser plastic commercial versions) – this was on the original STEEL versions & boy do they work, I was itching for hours after...which is a sign it’s working.

Craig the owner assisted myself & Eleanor during our vibro massage & made us feel comfortable & was very informative (but not in a boring teacher way – in a way of hhhhmmmm this sounds a lot easier than the gym). Using these plates is quite literally a miracle machine, for instance doing 1 sit-up on the plate equals to 20 normal sit-ups!!!

It also helps with cellulite, blood circulation, fat reducing, increase of collagen (you heard it ladies this workout actually makes your skin better!!! – and we can vouch for it there was a lady there who’s skin was A-mazing & its was her first comment to us!!!) amongst a number of other things.

Anyhow, I walked into the Vibro-suite declining the invite to my 3-day free pass to enjoy the Vibro plates & I left booking in for Wednesday this week! I love the plates... I cant wait to jump back on!!!
